What we help you with

We handle power outages, short circuits, burnt sockets, tripped RCDs and fire hazards in Stockholm. Our electrician diagnoses, secures the situation and repairs what's possible on the spot.

Common emergency situations

Common symptoms – and what usually causes them

An acute electrical fault rarely announces itself in advance. The whole home goes dark, a fuse trips again and again, or a socket starts to smell burnt. The symptoms usually say a lot about where the fault sits – which is why we start asking questions the moment you call.

If your entire home has lost power while the neighbours still have theirs, the main fuses or a fault in your own installation are the likely suspects. If the RCD (residual-current device) trips the instant you try to reset it, there is very likely an earth fault – often in a dishwasher, a washing machine or a damp outdoor socket. And a fuse that blows whenever one particular appliance starts points to an overload or a short circuit in that appliance.

How the work is carried out

With acute faults we always work in the same order – it is the fastest route back to a safe installation.

What you can safely do yourself – and what to leave to an electrician

A few checks are safe to do before you call. But if anything is burning or smoking, the order changes: call 112 first, and only switch off the main power if you can reach the consumer unit without risk.

Check whether the neighbours have also lost power – if so, it is most likely a grid outage and a matter for the network operator. Then look at the consumer unit: has a fuse or the RCD tripped? Reset it once. If it trips again, leave it alone and instead unplug the appliance that was running when the fault appeared. Replacing a blown screw-in fuse or a light bulb is also fine to do yourself.

Anything in the fixed installation is a different matter. Replacing sockets, working inside the consumer unit or joining cables may, under current Swedish regulations, only be carried out by an electrical installation company registered with the Swedish Electrical Safety Board (Elsäkerhetsverket). And never touch exposed or fire-damaged wiring – even when the power appears to be off.

Common questions about emergency fault repair

What should I do if a socket smells burnt?
Stop using the socket immediately and unplug whatever is connected, if you can do so safely. Cut the power to that circuit at the consumer unit – or switch off the main breaker if you are unsure which fuse it is. If you see smoke or flames, call 112 before anything else. A burnt smell usually means a loose connection generating heat, and the socket should be checked by a qualified electrician before it is used again. Call us on 073-173 87 37.
Why does my RCD keep tripping?
An RCD that trips repeatedly is reacting to a leakage current somewhere in the installation. Common causes include moisture in outdoor sockets or garden lighting, an ageing heating cable, or an appliance with a developing earth fault – dishwashers and washing machines are frequent culprits. Unplug your appliances one at a time and try resetting between each. If the RCD still trips with everything unplugged, the fault sits in the fixed installation and needs professional fault-finding with instruments.
My whole home has no power but the fuses look fine – what is wrong?
First check whether your neighbours have power. If they are also without electricity, it is a grid outage and the network operator's job to fix. If the neighbours do have power, a main fuse may have blown, or there may be a break in your installation – for example a neutral fault, which can damage connected equipment. Switch off sensitive appliances and call an on-call electrician. We are normally on site within 2 hours in Stockholm, around the clock.
Can I use the ROT deduction for emergency electrical work?
Yes. The Swedish ROT deduction applies to acute jobs too, as long as the basic conditions are met – among them that you own the home where the work is done. Private individuals then get a 30 per cent deduction on the labour cost, applied directly on the invoice so there is nothing for you to administer. The deduction covers labour, not materials. Current terms and limits are published by Skatteverket, and you are welcome to ask when you call.
How quickly can you be on site for an acute electrical fault?
For acute faults in Stockholm we are normally on site within 2 hours, whatever the time of day. We are based in Jakobsberg, Järfälla, and cover 30 areas across Stockholm. If you are calling from an address farther out, you get an honest time estimate over the phone rather than a promise we cannot keep. Calls are answered around the clock, all year, so your case can be prioritised straight away.
